Journata Books refund policy

Journata Books (www.journata.is) has a refund policy intended to give all customers the right to a refund for products which have been received in damaged condition, or which are not to their liking.  Our refund policy applies to our customers in all parts of the world, not just the EU and EEA. The following terms define our refund policy.   All our customers have the following rights:

  1. Right of Withdrawal: All customers of Journata Books have a 14-day cooling-off period to cancel their order and return their purchase for any reason.  In order to cancel your order, please send an email message to books@journata.is, listing the following information:   Your name, your mailing address, your telephone number, the date of purchase, the product (or book title) purchased, and the price you paid online. We will refund your credit card in the amount you paid or send you a bank check for the amount.  If the credit card information you gave us for the order you are withdrawing is no longer current, then you should provide us with new credit card details so we can forward your refund.


  1. Voucher Option:  If you wish, we will send you a credit voucher in the same amount you paid for the withdrawn order, so you can purchase a different book or product from Journata Books.  If you would like a voucher for a new product instead of a refund, please specify that in your email to us.


  1. Conformity Guarantee for Defective Goods:  Journata Books customers have two (2) years to return defective products that they purchased online in our bookstore, in order to receive a refund of the price they paid.  If the product you ordered was received in damaged or defective condition, please send us an email at books@journata.is, with a description of the defect and a photo of the defective product and envelope. Your email should also include your name, your mailing address, your telephone number, the product (or book title) you purchased, the date of purchase and the price you paid online. If we determine that the product is damaged or defective based on that information, we will send you another copy of the product, or alternatively, we will refund the full price you paid for the item.  Please advise us of your preference in your email. If the credit card information for the order you are withdrawing is no longer current, then you should provide us with new credit card details so we can forward your refund.

Additional terms of this refund policy:

Factual verification:  All refunds are subject to Journata Books’ and Journata ehf’s factual verification of the information you send us when claiming a refund. Therefore, you should follow the instructions we’ve provided in this refund policy and be as specific as possible in providing information such as the date of purchase, the amount you paid, your mailing address, and the credit card account to which we should issue the refund amount.

Fraud exception:  Please be aware that in the event Journata Books and Journata ehf determine that a person has, or may have, used fraudulent methods in requesting a refund, or falsified any of the details of a refund request, we reserve the right not to issue a refund to that person. 

Country of adjudication:  Journata ehf, the parent company of Journata Books, is a private limited company registered in Iceland (identification number: 690922-0880).  All claims against Journata Books or Journata ehf must be made in Iceland and under Icelandic law.
