Journata is committed to protecting your personal data. This privacy policy (“Privacy Policy”) governs Journata’s use of data we collect and use, including any and all personal data. Personal data is information that relates to you and may identify you as an individual. We use your personal data in line with all applicable laws. To ensure compliance with with the laws and to align Journata’s activities around trust and transparency we have adopted rules and guiding principles as set forth in this Privacy Policy.

Who we are:
This Privacy Policy applies to Journata ehf, an Icelandic corporation based in Gardabaer, Iceland. While our principal place of business is Iceland, we conduct business transactions and partner with publishers on our website(s), including Journata.is, to provide goods and services to our customers around the world.
What we do:
Journata’s mission is providing news, information and content to serve the reading public around the world. This includes Journata Books, our online bookstore, as well as other services planned for the future. To provide our services, we may enter into agreements with:
- Online publishers who may publish content featured on Journata
- Advertisers who want users to view their content
- Third-party partners who provide us with technical assistance to better serve our users

Who are Journata users?

In the event you terminate your account, Journata will delete all active data corresponding with access to your account, but may preserve certain details of transactions for a period of six (6) years after the date of your final transaction, for legal and financial accounting reasons. Once this time period has expired, this data will be deleted.
What are your data protection rights?
Every Journata user is entitled to the following:
- The right to access – You have the right to request from Journata copies of your personal data that we maintain. We may charge you a small processing fee for this service.
- The right to rectification – You have the right to request that Journata correct any personal information that you believe is inaccurate. You also have the right to request that Journata complete any information that you believe is incomplete.
- The right to erasure – You have the right to request that Journata erase or delete your personal data, under certain conditions.
- The right to restrict processing – You have the right to request that Journata restrict the processing of your personal data, under certain conditions.
- The right to object to processing – You have the right to object to Journata’s processing of your personal data, under certain conditions.
- The right to data portability – You have the right to request that Journata transfer the data we have collected to another organization, or directly to you, under certain conditions.
